Overview 

Riverbend ROCKS is seeking an enthusiastic Children and Youth Programming Coordinator to join our team and help expand our children and youth initiatives. As a vibrant community hub located in a diverse suburb, we provide inclusive and equity-driven programming that is educational and recreational. This role will directly contribute to enriching the lives of children and youth through innovative, STEM-based programming.

Gain meaningful experience in program planning and execution within a supportive, dynamic community, with opportunities to create innovative educational and recreational content that positively impacts local children and youth.

This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week. The majority of this job will be completed onsite at 5217 149A St NW. There may be occasional opportunities for remote work.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan, execute, monitor and report on children and youth programs, including monitoring participant engagement and educational outcomes.
  • Develop and coordinate daily and weekly activities for various age groups, ensuring they align with Riverbend ROCKS’ core mission of education, inclusion, and community development. These programs include a variety of educational and recreational activities.
  • Adapt and enhance our existing programs based on current needs and capacities.
  • Work closely with children, youth, families and community stakeholders to identify program expansion and enhancement opportunities.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, volunteers and practicum students of the children and youth programs.
  • Respond promptly to emails, messages and work phone.
  • Manage the group chats on different platforms with children, youth and their families. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children and youth from diverse and/or vulnerable backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated strong time management, organizational and leadership skills with a proven ability to effectively multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Prior experience in educational and recreational program development or coordination, particularly in a community-based setting.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of participants, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for programming or events.
  • Proficient in using digital tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Canva).
  • Experience with program tracking, reporting, and data entry.
